THE FIRM

Translation Criteria is a translation firm founded and directed by Santiago Murias, a Certified Translator with a Graduate Degree in Translation from the University of Buenos Aires, and a Law Degree (J.D.) from the same University, with more than 20 years of experience in a variety of fields including Law, Micro and Macroeconomics, Security and Defense, Finance, Marketing, Information Technology, Negotiation and Higher Education.

 

Our firm only contracts the services of professional translators, with university or college degrees in translation and/or a high level of expertise in our areas of specialization.

We strictly adhere to a fair remuneration policy in contracting the translation professionals who work with our firm. This policy bears an inseparable relationship with the quality of the services that we offer our clients and with the ethical standards that guide the way we conduct our business.

Santiago Murias holds a Graduate Degree in Translation, with a major in law and business-related subjects, from the Translation School of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) (1989). In addition, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies from the same university (2002), where he also earned a Doctorate in Jurisprudence (2011). He has also taken special training courses in the United States. Santiago has traveled widely, having journeyed to the United States and Canada on numerous occasions. He has also traveled in England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, and Chile.

 

As a translator, he has played an instrumental role in the successful completion of a large number of international negotiations and transactions. He has taken part in the implementation of projects in both the private and public sectors, has participated in the execution of numerous contracts, and has contributed to the implementation of international e-learning academic programs. He has attained broad-ranging translation experience in the fields of law, economics, finance, marketing, higher education, and security and defense.

 

Since 1993, he has been an Associate Professor at the University of Buenos Aires Translation School, teaching American Law (Introduction to Legal Personality, Contracts, and Torts). In 2006, he was appointed Full Professor for Translation II (Contracts and Torts) at the same School. From 1990 through 1994, Santiago held the position of Academic Secretary at the UBA Translation School. Since 2011, he holds the position of Academic Coordinator of the English Translation Department in the above-mentioned School. He is also a Professor in the Master of Arts in Translation Program at the University of Buenos Aires, where he teaches a course on translation of technology agreements, as well as another course on translation of financial and economic reports. He also teaches a number of specialized translation courses on financial and economic subjects in other higher education institutions.
